Default Gouramis in a planted tank

Hi All,
My wife loves the gouramis, especially the dwarf ones. We have tried several times to introduce them to our 75 gal planted wonderland but they always developed a respiratory issue and die. Do you think they cannot acclimate to the pressurized co2? All the other fish are fine, healthy and happy but the gouramis never seem to make it. Any ideas out there??

well the dwarf gouramis are experiencing a disease that is going around with them. its only affecting the dwarf. what u could try is to find a local breeder or go on aquabid.com and look for BLUERAM06 they sell the flame pairs. the co2 is not an issue. another thing you can try is going to a different shop, a specialty shop in fish, then again they usually get from the same places. if u pay more u prob are getting a better fish. NOT ALWAYS THOUGH go to aquabid and hunt down my friend great people.

Check with Invertzfactory.com They quarantine their fish until they know they are healthy. The only thing better than their customer service is their prices.

Perhaps don't buy bred forms of dwarf gourami. The Flames and Powder blues are selected color forms of the normal dwarf gourami. They are inherently difficult to keep because they are inbred and genetically weak. Try a wild type. The wife will learn to like them- they aren't as gaudy as the selected forms, but much hardier and smarter from my experience. (yes, smarter)
