Wow...you're right, that article certainly makes it sound more complicated than the average pond plant. It seems to go much more smoothly after sprouting.
I read an article in a local pond magazine a few months back that made it sound much easier. The one thing they stressed to death was fertilization. They explained that they can consume up to 4lbs of 20-20-20 every two weeks...but because of the needles it's really hard to get it into the soil.
If I remember correctly, the article didn't advocate starting the seeds indoors. I believe the author just potted into 4" containers.
The other thing I remember about the article is that they only make it in a regular aqua gardening container for a few weeks and then you have to move on to larger containers...one grower uses those plastic tubs you can buy to store clothes or toys in.
Anyway...I'm still jealous!!!!
