I have grown it, but not to full size. I need a dedicated setup which I don't have right now...the snails, shrimp and fish did in my plantlings, they were doing really well too. I will try again next growing season.

I've read that you don't need any skill at all....just lots and lots and lots of ferts. (and a suit of armor to get the ferts into the pots )
Good luck...post some pics too.
I'm jealous, I my pond is not nearly big enough.

Well, after reading through this: LINK

I pretty much gave up as it gives the impression that it is impossible for any other than the most skillful professional..

I will give it a shot.

Wow...you're right, that article certainly makes it sound more complicated than the average pond plant. It seems to go much more smoothly after sprouting.

I read an article in a local pond magazine a few months back that made it sound much easier. The one thing they stressed to death was fertilization. They explained that they can consume up to 4lbs of 20-20-20 every two weeks...but because of the needles it's really hard to get it into the soil.

If I remember correctly, the article didn't advocate starting the seeds indoors. I believe the author just potted into 4" containers.

The other thing I remember about the article is that they only make it in a regular aqua gardening container for a few weeks and then you have to move on to larger containers...one grower uses those plastic tubs you can buy to store clothes or toys in.

Anyway...I'm still jealous!!!!

I used aquasoil for mine instead of the soil/sand/peat mixture they recommended in the link you provided. Mine sprouted before I even had a chance to put them in my aquarium!!
