Intake tubes for what?

I have seen clear tubes at petsmart, but they are just simple plastic tubes. They could work if they happen to fit what ever type of filter you have. You could also try clear pvc hose if you don't mind the intake being flexable.

I figured it was for a filter, but if he were to say what type of filter it was, someone may be able to give a specific answer for something that would fit his filter.
