you probably didn't use enough dechlorinator or let it soak long enough or you could have not rinsed it well enough. i've done what you did also with no problems.

I have left mine dry out and it STINKS!!! Thats after a recharge. Are you guys using the neutral regulator? Ive never used it and dont see any ill effects

I agree with Bamboozler. I just replace them. It's a lot easier and less time consuming.

just surfing for the recharge directions and saw this OOOOLLLLD thread...I hope the guys that started it have learned by now that Purigen is not just a filter, but a MICRO filter. Guys, it makes your water 100 times clearer and crisper than just a filter alone. Anyway, gotta go recharge my "well marketed" purigen packet.
