Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
While hunting for some plants in the For Sale Section here, I have found that I'm better off buying from aquabotanic unless its something they dont stock. Seems like people are starting to charge alot in the classifieds or im just really cheap

Its really like any kind of shopping. Latley I've been noticing some hight pricing but for the most part you can find some pretty good deals and the shipping is usually cheaper here.

For me online plant retailers are excellent when you are looking for specific plants and you want to get them all at the same time and from the same place. You can't beat their selection. If you only need one or two different plants the For Sale forum is the place to find it.

One thing that is usually nicer about using the classifieds here is that you get harder to find plants. Also, the quality of plants you'll receive is usually top-notch.

Re: Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
The thing I like about getting plants here is that they are "tried and true". For a rookie like me, I need something that has stood the test of another hobbyists aquarium. Also, if it's a plant I've not had before, I know exactly who to go to with questions about care and planting for that specific plant.
I only go to my online dealers (aquariumgarden.com or aquabotanicstore.com) when I need something very specific.

Re: Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
As much as I appreciate any support, it is never an either or, us against them thing. I have my supporters, I have my detracters, and I know hobbyists out there that have been in the hobby for over ten years and never paid for a plant in their whole life, and never ever will. I have customers that actively trade plants all the time and still manage to buy from me, and some that even trade or sell their plants to ME. Its all good. There is many choices for people and thats always a good thing. I'm just happy when people are saying nice things about my business.

LOL, well that at times really cracks me up. There is no doubt people are making money. These "rare" plants drop WAY down in price when sold by businesses.

i always vouch for the classifieds mostly because i like to support APC and depending on the member you can sometimes get really good deals

Re: Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
I was just making an observation, and while I have gotten great plants on here through the classifieds many many times, and Im not knocking them at all. Ive noticed that since the price seems up from a lot of people + the $6 shipping everyone charges, I can get all the plants Im looking for usually in one shot and pay 2 dollars more for shipping from AB. Plus im pretty much guaranteed the plants are going to be top notch quality. If I get 2 plants from one guy and 2 from another, I already lost value on paying for shipping twice.

Re: Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
Buying a specific plant that is not commonly available is a good use of the ads here, in my opinion. Or, if you are setting up a new tank you sometimes find big lots of various plants for sale here. But, for buying several specific types of plants at once, wanting to be sure they are the species advertised, wanting them available all at the same time, buying from a place like Aquabotanic makes the best sense to me.

Re: Buying from Aquabotanic vs. Using the Classifeds here
agreed. There are deals, like you said if you buy a big plant package to setup a whole tank. But what I was doing, buying a bunch here a bunch there, unless your shopping for something specific, wasnt making sense to me. I just ordered the last 3 or 4 plants I needed from aquabotanic. Each has a place I guess.
