Default Where to find Branches?

I have been looking at many of your aquariums here. They are lovely.

Many of you have used branches, tree-like wood instead of chunks of driftwood in your designs.

I have searched three reputable online aquarium supply places in Ontario and have looked in the local stores and cannot find anything but that the normal, chunky driftwood.

Where are you getting it? What exactly is it?

Thanks
Aileen

Manzanita is a shrubby tree that produces very hard wood, usually oddly shaped from the tree's struggle to grow. You can buy branches from this from http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...driftwood.html, which many people here have reported very good results with. I haven't bought any, but when so many people express so much satisfaction I remember it.

Get access to a boat or canoe and DO WORK. I searched forever online to find a tree trunk looking piece. I went to my cabin where the water went down about four feet in 5 years. I found about 20 pieces and was able to pick the perfect piece. I am venturing up there next weekend to find pieces for my new 90 gallon and will be bringing back a truck full to hopefully trade to my LFS.
