Default baking soda & ph?

Hey all!
From what I've read, half a tsp of baking soda will raise the kh with 2 deg in a 10gal.
Now, what I would like to know, is there anybody that knows how much this will raise the ph?

The reason why I am asking, I want to use the baking soda to regulate my ph in my 48gal tank. The ph is running very low, at 5.5 and want to get it up to at least 6.
I would appreciate any advise on this matter!!
Cheers

we need to know your kh first id think. how often u change water?

2 tsp or 10g will raise 25 gallons 5 kh. so for u 2tsp will raise kh2.5 for 50 gal.

Hey there,
Our tap water where I stay is very soft, ph7, kh2.5, gh5.
I've got diy co2 @ double the standard 2l bottle, meaning, I've got a 5l bottle wich I make 1kg sugar, 1.5 tsp yeast, .5 tsp baking soda in mix.
Now, that drops my ph to 5.5, kh to .5/1, very very light yellow. I do 30% wc a week. Drop checker is light green, and plants are purling nicely.
The thing is, I don't want to use the baking soda for regulating the kh, but more for ph.

So I don't want to add baking soda, so that I've got 3 kh, cause that raises my ph sky high, and is no good for the co2/ph/kh.
Its more for regulating the ph, so any advise on to how much to add would be appreciated!
Cheers

your water parameters are similar to mine out of the tap. i wouldnt fool with the ph/kh by using baking soda. if u just lower you c02 output some the ph will rise.

all i would do is somehow control the output of your diy co2 system,if possible. to get your ph to 6.
c02 levels directly effect ph. higher co2=lower ph.

Hey,
I just found an very nice page to regulate ph & kh with baking soda, have done a experiment, and work out great, just as is says.
My ph was 5.5, kh 1. Added 1.8 tsp baking soda - ph went up to 6, kh to 2.
This program works out how much baking soda you should use to raise your kh to your preference, and also calculates how much this will raise you ph.
Have a look!!!
