Wish I knew how to post pictures.
I rearranged my whole tank. I also added 40lbs of Eco_Complete Planted Aquarium Substrate
I had just two NO 17W bulbs over the tank. I purchased a 30 inch SolarMax 230 T5 HO fixture.
It's cool at night because of the blue led bulbs. The place I purchased it was cool because
when I called and asked about a fixture for a planted tank they said yes. Well it was a salt water setup. Because of the distance I drove they gave me a Coral Life freshwater Colormax bulb to me. I also am running a NO Coral Life 10,000k bulb along side the T5 HOs. Two more plants added. This Friday I'm getting some dwarf grass and planting it everywhere. I wish I knew the name of my plants but got a cool purple some thing or nother.
Well that's it for now.

If this works this is the old setup.

Very nice set up! Some more plants and them filling out would really make it look great. The cluster of stem plants on the right look to be Rotala Rotundifolia to me. The big, broad leafed plant in the center looks like some variety of Anubias. How do you do the DIY co2 system? What all do you need? I am using Flourite substrate, T-5 HO light fixture, and am having to dose every other day with a liquid co2 (Excel). I also dose with Flourish 1x a week for my fertilizer, as well as using root tabs (for my plants that are heavy root feeders). Would like to do away with dosing with excel every other day, but the co2 systems are so expensive!! Here is a pic of my tank (just planted the tank 3 weeks ago and this pic is after week 2).

Thank you for the compliment on the tank.
It looks quite different now that the baby tear has died off in one week .
What waist of 40 bucks. When i get a better connection i will post some new picks .
I started the Seachem daily regiment of the entire fertilizer line
Im only on day five of the regiment we will see in a week or two if it makes a difference.

The purple plant you have will not live. It's not an aquatic plant. Your tank has a good start. It's best to buy plants on the for sale forum. It's way cheaper than $40 and they are all true aquatics and submerged growth. I think you have a good start.

As for the diy Co2 as you can see i used two empty and cleaned soda bottles.
Use 1 cup of 105 F. water nothing over 110F yeast will die and a half tsp dried yeast.
Fill a soda bottle half way with hot water and two cups of sugar. Let cool until look warm again nothing over 110F. The yeast will take 5-10min to bloom.
You can add the yeast mixture to the water solution.
Use airline tubing sealed into cap of bottle. Then go into a back flow preventor. Into the tank with a difuser like an airstone. I had mine going into my intake of my canister filter.

I am now have a preasurised Co2 system with a diy co2 reactor.
