Default 29 Gallon Aquarium Cleaning

Can anyone help me clear up my tank im trying to get a really nice planted tank with a nice foreground but I need to figure out how to get my water crystal clear with no debris floating and landing on my plants and also how to stop this brown/black looking algae from growing on foreground plants?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

What kind of filtration do you have? Perhaps you need more, if there is stuff floating and landing on plants. I went from one AC50 on my 29 to two AC50s, and there were still particles floating around, which drove me crazy. Upgraded to a canister filter (Rena XP2), and I was much happier.

Is your water tinted by tannins in the water? Larger or more frequent water changes might help. I never bother with carbon, but that will also help with water clarity. I have heard of concerns about carbon removing nutrients plants need, but I don't know if there's anything to that. I've never used it myself, but a lot of people with planted tanks swear by Purigen.

What kind of lighting do you have? Are you fertilizing? Using co2?

Sorry to pepper you with questions, but knowing more about your setup would make it easier to address your concerns.

I ran an xp2 on my 29 gallon with a koralia nano powerhead. Had almost no maintenance necessary. As the post above states what is your your current filtration? And I would first buy a power head Nd have the flow run low along the front of Your forground and have filter intake on the opposite end rear corner. Cheers.

Chicken is KILLING IT! I to am concerned about carbon removing valuable ferts!? Any truth to this. I never really use it or it's to old to be useful by the time I start doseing my tanks. Anyways would love some feed back also. Post a pic of your dirty tank and equipment and youlld have your answer in NO TIME

I have an aqueon quiet flow 30 200gph it came with my tank setup also I have 4 T5 HO bulbs 1 24W-420 actinic purple, 1 24W 6700K bulb, and 2 roseate bulbs 650nm. I am also using seachem fundamentals and enhancer fertilizers im not so good with remembering to do them all the time like the box says but I try. Ill attach a picture of my tank. I also have a diy co2 in the back left corner I dont know how well it works especially with the power filter breaking the water surface.
Thanks

Sick tank! IMO i would point a nano koralia across/above the grass towards the swords. That's just me.

Honestly really love canister filters. But to be honest only have used Rena xp series. I'm interested to hear your review. Do u mind doing an unboxing? Or show pictures of the basket design or media trays. Still might want to look into a smaller power head to circulate nutrients through the dead spots. Moss attaches fairly. Good luck.
