Default aquarium seals looking rough

hey ppls,

i have a 55 gallon that ive had for about 10 years...

over time algae has grown up under some of the seals where its real thin

also i have been a heavy mag float user

plus this tank has been ran as a marine tank so ive scraped coraline alage with a razorblade many times

so there is up to 1/8 of an inch of my seal missing / peeled back in various places - Im talking about the real thin part

I just shut this tank down recently, it was a marine tank for the last 8 mos or so. Never had a leak but during razorblading the coraline purple algae off I was able to see it up close more and it just has me worried. I shut it down to re-setup as a planted tank.

anyone know how important that real thin part of the silicone is to the structure of the tank?
