Default Water Temperature

So from what I have read everyone agrees that the best temperature is between 74 and 76 especially if you have mosses?

I have 4 small aquariums that are at 81-82 degrees all summer long here in Texas, 77 degrees in the winter and I have Java Moss growing very well in all of the tanks. 3 of the tanks are low/medium light and no CO2 but I still have to trim the moss monthly. Also my Crypts, Bacopa, E. Tenellus, Myrio Frill and some algae all grow as well.

do you ever notice that in the winter when it goes down to 77 that anything especially the moss looks healthier and greener? i had heard some things to that effect. just trying to maximize growth here.

Ian,

Yes, I have noticed that my Java Moss gets a lot greener and thicker. Also, there seems to be less algae in my tanks during the winter months. Not much I can do about it though. Heat here in Texas during the summer is pretty high.

yeah just installing a room air conditioner helped me in my region. I wonder if you put small amounts of ice in a nylon that would help, nAH... imagine how often you'd have to do that... well maybe a ice pack. but then theres no control..
hmmmm chillers are so expensive
