Hi I am a fairly new aquarist that has caught the planted tank bug. I am in the process of converting a fish only tank to a planted tank, and it is not easy.
The suggested method of setting up the plants and substrate first and then adding fish seems to be a better method. I am also adding plants slowly instead of planting densely from the beginning which seems to be the operating advice. I was scared off after some initial devastating algae, which seems to be better under control. I cant wait until I get my posts up to 25 so I can place a request for a plant pack on the buy and trade forum to get me started. I love the idea of trading with fellow hobbyists!

Greater Seattle Aquarium Society (GSAS) meeting tonight @ 7:30 PM Seattle Pacific University. Talk on Cichlids, some plants for sale afterwards. Next meeting 2nd Tuesday in June.

Hi Roy,
I appreciate your previous responses to my posts re Seattle water. I'm a new GSAS member, and am very dissapointed that I probably wont make it tonight. Are there normally plants for sale there? I am especially looking for midground plants

Hi Kypros,

Sometimes there are plants, but not always. When you know you will be there, visit the "GSAS Member Chat", do an introduction, and let people know what you are looking for. If they have it I'm sure they will try to bring it.
