Talking Howdy.. . .

I'm new to tanks and planted tanks in general. I have a couple avid friends who are assisting me in the project, especially with more plants! After viewing a couple well planted tanks, I became really interested in plant tanks. I've started the project with little money and it seems to be going well, I've learned a ton off of this website and others in getting the tank up and running and learning everything about everything with fish and water conditions, plant fertilizers etc.

It all became a reality when a friend moved and gave me his high priced equipment for next to nothing. I think in the future I'll be getting more tanks to try my hand at some different things.

I'm in Colorado Springs, and hunt for new plants around at LFS.

Currently have a 72 gallon bowfront planted tank (3 to 4 months in) 13 different kind of plants I think.

CO2 directly infused and running JBJ unit with 4x 65 watt cf (roughly 3.5 wpg). The substrate is nothing special with just some nice medium size gravel. (As no money to buy any clay)

Have around 40 fish now, going through different phases of interest heh. Mostly schoolers and maintenance fish. Red eye tetras, german blue rams, angels, clown loach, gold algae eaters, otos.

Well anyways, friend referred me to these forums/website and I've been entertained and consumed with reading it ever since. Great to be here.

Anyway, nice set-up. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome! Glad to meet you. Your px must have been at the beginning. I can't see all the fish you mention.

Heh, that's funny that you mention that. I was trying to find out what it is also.

Seems to be some kind of stiff stemmed pond/immersed plant.

Thanks Dave for the welcome.

Heh actually the pic is only a few days old (the water is much more clear now). I was a little close at times with the camera so all the fish swam and hid. Most have only been in the tank for 1-2 months so they are quite shy. Plus I stuck my hand in there a lot to fix and plant plants I'm hoping they will be a bit more comfortable in the future. Although I live alone and there isn't much activity in front of the tank, so I spook them a lot.

Thanks for the meet and greet.

Updated tank as of August 2008. More fish captured on film. Plants trimmed a couple days ago

It looks alot different. Are you going to add any foreground, or are you leaving it all open?

I think it's looking very nice. To create some depth and interest you could use a midground and a foreground. Think of the look at the edge of a wood. So far so good!
