Default Hi from Portland - Australia that is

Hi all

just thought i would say hi to you all. yes another newbie. but hey we all have to start some where. i have been very insired by the journals that i have read so far on this site, all very inspirational.

as said i am very new to this, so new that i am only at the purchase stage, i currently have a
4ft (120cm) tank and stand. well thats it at this stage, i never rush things so it will be a while before i set anything up. i guess this gives me plenty of time to search through threads on here and soak in all the knowledge about aquascapes.

i also keep reptiles, i have 3 spotted pyhtons these are from Cape york the most northern tip of Australia which is quite funny because i live in one of the most southern points of the mainland. i would like to add an aquarium full of plant life in the room where i keep them.

any way hi to all, and thanks for the informative threads.

Cheers Brad

Welcome Brad!

You have a good plan to take it slow and do your research as you go. Good luck!

Thanks Jan.

from what i have read so far this is a very user friendly forum. people seem very happy to share their experiences and knowledge. it is good to see a group of people with the same interest willing to give up the trade secrets. i am not used to this from some of the other forums i am a member of.

so i believe i can spend hours, Days, Months, Years on here searching through journals and threads.

Cheers Brad

Welcome to APC! You are smart taking your time to research. I know hardly anyone into aquariums that doesn't have a cabinet or two of equipment that they wished they hadn't bought. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but when they finally got into it they realized they wanted to go a different way.

Look forward to seeing you around!

i guess people having a cabinet full of equipmant is an area that some aquarium suppliers can take credit for (only some). As they see someone come in that has little knowledge about the hobby and can take them for a ride.

i find that learning from people that have already made the mistakes can save you a lot of money and frustration, i would prefer this rather than learning from someone that is trying to make a living from the hobby.

i also want to make it clear that it is only some aquarium suppliers that have put me in this mind set. i know there is a lot of aquarium suppliers out there that don't fit into this labeling of mine. if you are one of those suppliers i appoligise for my stereo typeing.

Cheers Brad
