I am new to this forum but not to our hobby. I currently have 2 planted tanks running, one is 55 gal running T5HO GLO lights and pressurized CO2 with a mix of EcoComplete/FloraMax and gravel. My other tank is a 29 gal with Aqueon T5 lights with no CO2 with Flora max and gravel. I also dose 3 times a week with excel and dry Macros and Micros nutrients. Lights in both tanks are 1-10000K and 1-6700K.
My next project is a 40 gal breeder to be set up with mineralized topsoil covered by black glass craft beads (2mm - 4mm in size). This tank will also be set up using the dry start method and will have Deep Blue Solarmax brand T5HE with blue LED night lights and no CO2 initially. I plan to only have 2 pieces of mopani driftwood with mosses, some slate caves / pieces along with mostly foreground plants and enough taller plants to hide my intake and heater, etc.
If I receive info that the black glass beads will not be a good cover over the topsoil I probably will go with the Black Diamond blasting grit others have used successfully.
Hope to gain more knowledge as well as share and help others in our hobby
