Default Hi

Hi, I'm RuThY and I joined here because I wanted to get to know more about growing cryptocorynes emersed and so I always have somewhere to go if I need help. I just think that cryptocorynes are really different and beautiful when they flower.

Welcome to the board!

I like Crypts myself. We have a special forum for Crypt nuts here, so be sure to check it out.

See Jan's Crypts page.
I typically use plain garden potting soil, add 1/3 of that , 1/3 peat, 1/3 sand, onyx etc.

I change this once every 3-6 months.
I fertilize with miracle grow(MG) once/twice a week with a folair spray of weak MG.

I keep 1-4" of water in the tank and let it dry out every so often by moving the lids off to one side.

If you get any gnats, white fluies etc, use the fly tape trap stuff, work very well and last a long time and has no impact on the plants.

Regards,
Tom Barr

Thanks so much guys! I'll be sure to check out the Crypt nut forums often.

Thanks Tom for the info on how to take care of the Crypts. That really helps me out. I'll be sure to check out Jan's Crypt page.
