@equinox - thanks man
that is hairgrass not algae

it has managed to stay algae free the whole time...
my dosing regime at the moment is 1 tsp nitrate, 1/8th teaspoon phosphate, 10ml trace on sunday with water change, then 1 tsp nitrate monday, 10ml trace tuesday, 1 tsp nitrate, 1/8th teaspoon phosphate wednesday, 10ml trace on thursday, then 1 tsp nitrate on friday, depending on how things are coloring up, maybe more traces on saturday or skip a day...
i still have some gda on the front glass, so i need to get my phosphate balanced...
i am just using dechlorinated tap water, and about 30% water change
no chiller, i like the temp up at about 27-28, i used to be at around 29-30 when i had discus.... if i still cant get rid of the clado i will try pushing my temp up to 30 again...
i have a rhinox 5000 and a powerhead above that for co2 diffusion, the rhinox puts out nice fine bubbles, and the powerhead, makes them finer and sends them round the tank. the diffuser is in the bottom left of my tank at the back, so it doesnt get much light and therefore stays pretty clean and algae free..
i aim for a ph of about 6.5 i guess its just a habit. i odnt test my ph much, coz it shouldnt be changing all tha tmuch once you have everything all dialled in, just the usual swings when the co2 goes on and off...
i will test my N,P levels, not sure how to test for K?
the blue fish are blue tetras - Boehlkea fredcochui, they are extremely active fish, and are little eating machines, i have also seen them eating my r. wallichii so i would not recommend them in a setup with fine leaves...
