I found the problem with the light suspended over the tank is the weight of the cords. To fix that I bought these clips at HD. Attached them to the back of the stand to take the weight of the cords off the fixture so it hangs straight over the tank.

Worked like a charm. I wanted something that was adjustable so I can raise and lower the light. There are other ways to do it Im sure, but with these you just unclip them and can adjust the light up and down.

Also got the inside setup. I also realize AFTER the tanks are setup what a pain it is to see under there. Im not a big fan of pounding or drill under a tank once its full of water so I remembered to hand a light this time!

Background is also on, tried black vinyl this time, went on easier then I thought, key is to keep it wet and the tank back wet as well.

Next up, check for leaks.

The light looks straight to me. Is it offset to the back slightly or is it optical illusion? Did you hang just one power strip or did you put one on the other side to?

Great project! It's always fun to see start-to-finish journals. You did a great job on the paint, I can't wait to see what the scape will turn out like.

Ditto! This is a great looking setup. It's inspiring me to rehab my own stand/tank and make that relic a little purtier! Plus, those kwik-klips are EXACTLY what I need. I have the same issue with my lights.

This is slow going, to many other projects going on! I have leak tested the tank, good there. Did notice a few scratches in there that I didnt see when I bought the tank, not much you can do about that as far as I know. Nothing bad but if I look for them I can see it.
Got the hardscape materials. Ive been debating on doing a sand foreground, but I think I may just do all aquasoil, sand is just to much work. Need to make a plan soon. Still growing out plants in my other tanks for this one.

Jeff,

That's looking really nice. Your attention to detail is paying off already. I can't wait to see it with hardscape and water.
