Thanks for the vote of confidence. Delivery date is scheduled for April 17th. DSA said they are running behind, however.... Still struggling with what to do about lighting..

Fish, well I was hoping that I would have red congos by now but after 2 years of waiting still nothing. Might go with neon rainbows (Melanotaenia praecox). I will keep my neons and rummy nose. I'm not sure. Was so looking forward to the red congos....

I'd go with T5 lights again. Try searching different hydroponics and gardening supply websites, they normally have good deals on 2 and 4 foot T5 fixtures.

What do you guys think of this light? I'd get metal hallide and moonlight and pcs. 3 switches.

We know doubleott05 likes it. Can't find all this with moonlights, T50's and Metal Hallide.

I've heard really bad things about coral life from the reef keeping world.

well then you could go with outer orbitz they make the same fixture coralife does almost to the T.

ya they give off lots of heat but the components of the fixture allow good heat dissapation and if your tank has a moderate flow it shouldnt absorb too much heat anyway. (espically a tank the size that your doing texgal.) but really tex gal you should go with what you know or what your are comfortalbe with. but i have been wanting to use a TEK light also and know they they can use Giesenmann bulb but i donno what they are rated at as far as Kelvin goes they are just labled like midday and chrome and crap like that with know kelvin designators.

as far as moonlights go they really dont do anything..... but they are cool to look at. IMO they arnt worth it.

i just like MH. the lighting is intense and anybody that has seen my tanks in the past knows im a light freak for 6-9wpg tanks.
