Lovely scape, and super healthy plants! Especially that monster that needed a trimming :P

Thanks!

Here's some boring video footage of the tank.

I added a pitcher plant in the tank. It seems to be thriving, growing well and making new pitchers.

I also worked up the courage to cut the black mangroves. They seem to have survived it, new growth is appearing. I hope they thicken up a bit, maybe even start branching wildly in there. I'm dreaming of a mini-mangrove tree sort of thing.

The pitcher plants are beautiful. Are there fruit flies around the tank as a food source or do you have to feed them?

A valid question there.

I'm pretty sure I've got a population of Trialeurodes vaporariorum, greenhouse whitefly unavoidably breeding @myplace. They love the paludariums and seem to be buzzing in there regularly. I trust nature takes it's course.

I read somewhere that dried insect larvae is great supplement for Nepenthes , so I drop a FD bloodworm in the pitchers every now and then.
I also throw fish food granules (small) lavishly and am pretty confident they digest anything going their way.

There's two species of pitchers in there now, I'll update as I see any thing worth commenting.

Aw man! You even have cool looking pests!!! The flies in my wetland-n-a-box are those plain ol' nasty little gnat-black-fly-vermin (I've not taken the time to look close enough for an ID)...hah!

Later,

Darren

A lot of good with the looks of those... I mean, I can barely see my bumblebee gobies with glasses.

But looks just suddenly hit me, when I took a pic of the tank with the dimmer morning/evening light on. It is just a single T8, 6400 K. And it looks so much better than the 3000 K HQIs produce. I was going to upgrade and now I see it's severely overdue.

Black mangrove is growing promisingly, I think. Survives pruning and all.

I like how everything is pretty much self built. Very interesting idea indeed! Turns out so beautifully
