Hey there TG, any updates? What's the word on your new lights? I love reviewing this thread. It gives me plans for a "bigger" future for my plants and fish.

I just scrolled back on this thread and saw your new car. Nice vehicle, what kind of substrate do you use in it?

Hi guys! Not much is happening here. Some plants are flourishing, some floundering. New Downoi is on its way (I want that plant!!! At least I'm persistent!!) Growing L Aromatica like it's a weed. I have an apon in there that is so big it's shadowing my R. Macrandra. I have only small stems now!!! eeeeekkk! I love the beauty of the apon but am having trouble containing it. I may have to let it go!

Bleach dipped my anubias that was too high in the tank. Forgot about it and ruined some of the leaves. So silly, I could have just cut them off and saved myself the trouble!

Maybe things will brighten up and I'll snap a few pxs. Stuck my Diatom filter on it again and I have a leaky filter. First time I used it it leaked a couple inches over night. This time it's leaking big time! Called the co. and they'll make it right. I got a Vortex XL.

Light up-date - waiting patiently. (Yes it's hard as I'm so excited.) Keep thinking it will solve my downoi issues. I also want to see some of my plants get a little fuller.

Yes, old man - love the car, even if it can't hold water!! Great for the trips to the LFS!

HELP!! IT'S DIRTY LAUNDRY TIME! I'm posting my tank in all it's muck and mud. I have had a rather continuous mud storm in my tank since January when I changed to ADA AquaSoil. The dust settles all over everything. I have lost some of my plants because of it. My beautiful Eriocaulaceae type 2 is almost gone. I am trying desperately to keep a few pieces alive. My blyxa is having a hard time. Only the plants with the bigger leaves are flourishing. I continually stir the dust up to try to filter it out. I change my filters and rinse the sludge out regularly. I got a diatom filter Vortex XL (seal needs replacing) which I ran 2x (until the leaks) and it was full overnight. I am at a loss!!! I wonder if I will just continually filter out the ADA AS one dust cloud at a time until I have no substrate left.

I have 2 theories-
1. My 2 clowns, botia and yoyo are stirring it all up at night. Problem with this theory is why do things stay planted as well as they do. To make THIS MUCH dust wouldn't I have things floating all the time?
2. My Koralia power head is stirring things up even though I can't really see it. I have it aimed toward the top of the tank, not the bottom. I do see particulate floating around all the time even though it's not fine "dust" like if I were to move the ADA AS.

OK people - HELP.... Should I get rid of the loaches? I have 2 XP3s on there 24/7, a UV (no it's not green water). I have a diatom filter that I will be able to hook up once I get the leak issue resolved. Should I unhook the Koralia? What about water movement with dense planting if I unhook it? What should I do? Do I have to "cap" the AS.

Disclaimer: This is not diatoms. Algae eaters are plentiful and don't eat this. It looks and feels like mud.

PX.

How aggravating! I really don't know what else you can do since I've never used ADA Aquasoil and it sounds like you've been putting up quite a fight. I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're having so much trouble and I hope you manage to get it cleared up. The overall layout of your tank is so great, it hurts to see the close-ups of the muck-coated leaves.
