What a great natural looking tank. I have a 20 gallon and I think one truth is you can never have enough gallons.

Question Re: 125G Rescape

What do you to prevent or hasten the cycle period after the rescaping?

I have never pulled everything out and redone entirely except when I changed my substrate. When I rescape I do it piece by piece. I will move things around in one section at a time over a longer period. If I were to get things really stirred up I would do a water change. Since in my w/c I always use hoses and put enough prime for my entire tank that takes care of any ammonia issues I may have stirred up. The entire tank has the nutrifying bacteria everywhere, including in my filter so I haven't found it to be an issue. I'm sure if I took everything out and then put it all back I would probably end up with an issue. Since I don't do it that at it's fine.

Tex Gal:

Gorgeous tank with great looking, healthy growth. It is the kind of tank I prefer; I love an English or Cottage-style garden, and you nailed it underwater! Could be an old English border behind a centuries-old mansion! Great work.

I am tempted to just send you a cooler with UPS return label attached and a blank check. I would love to get some of your rejects!

Thanks Steve! You are so funny about your blank check. I'm sure I will have a hard time leaving some plants out. I have been thinking hard about "favorites". I love so many of them. I will probably just keep changing it around. But hey - that's the fun of it, right?!

Actually I have been collecting some new plants for the rescape and they are growing so much that unless I do it this Sunday I will have to do a trim. I tested my AS tonight and it shows hardly any ammonia so I think this Sunday may be the day. I need some volunteers to help me!!! 125g is a lot of water!! I'll be so glad when it's done. I'll have fun trying to decide where to put what. I'm gonna put my manzanita in the dishwasher about 3 times and then I guess it goes into the bath tub. I just got it about 4 days ago and should have had it in water already. Right now I have a big piece in the tank. I got some skinny branches to add on. I've got 5 or 6 kinds of mosses growing. They are slow to grow.

PM me before you throw anything away! Weather looks warm for the next week and I have some room left in my 180 that could use some clippings! Don't throw nuthin' away!
