Here are a few shots of my plant grow-out tank. I've been collecting for my rescape. I also have several mosses hanging on the sides in netting - growing sloooooowly.

Bacopa Myriophylloides

Back L-R-- Myriophyllum Mattogrossense, Bacopa, Limnophila Aromatica, Rotala Macrandra Front L-R-- in frame-Pellia, wysteria

Back L-R -- Hygro. Corymbosa Angustifloia (I think), Bacopa Myriophylliodes, Myriophyllium Mattogrossense, Bacopa. Front L-R -- Sunset Hygro, Cabomba red (2 sprigs ), Eriocaulaceae type 2 (beaten up by water flow in big tank - moved to here to recoup), Pellia in frame, Wysteria

Thumbs up Re: 125G Rescape

Absolutely beautiful. You know since getting into this hobby there are very few tanks that I have liked so much that have caught my attention. One is Wood's 10 gallon, the other is MrKoom's 29 gallon and I can say your 125 gallon is the third. Why fix it if it isn't broke. It is absolutely beautiful. And I don't know how much of a difference you are going to notice changing the substrate to Aquasoil. You may have already reached the growth threshhold if there is such a thing. And if Aquasoil makes your plants grow even faster, you will just end up trimming even more frequently.

I understand that you want a substrate that grows carpet plants well. Aquasoil is the best for this. But you don't need to tear the tank apart to do this. You could start a carpet of plants by growing your plants in trays as per Tom Barr's method until they become firmly rooted and form a dense mat and then you can break up those mats to proper size and bury them in those areas that you need carpeted. With this method you can mix and match different carpet plants like glossgo, hairgrass, HC, and HM.

Here is the link to how you can start carpet plants in trays as per Tom Barr.

Homer_Simpson - You make me blush with your high praise! But you know how it is... you get tired of something and want to take the next step. I have read such WONDERFUL things about AS and have always had a hard time keeping things planted. If you could see my Blyxa in person. It's in the foreground. It's pitiful! It needs to be rooted. There is just too much space between these big rocks. That means too much water movement. The roots don't like that. I can't wait to see what happens with the AS. I hope I'm not expecting too much. I have it in my shrimp tank and it's incredible in there. I did read Tom Bar's method but can't have trays sitting around (new kitten). It does sound interesting. Besides - how can I have all these new plants, rocks, and driftwood and NOT try a new scape???!!! You know what you would do!

Kitfoxdrvr - a 180g What could you do with that?!! I bet you have fun. Is your's the tank with your little girl sitting inside it?! You know, I'm terrible at this plant thing - I buy high and sell low. Acually I don't even sell - I give them away AND pay the postage. What's wrong with that px. I did sell once but then had some left and so shipped it for free. AM I DUMB OR WHAT? I gotta get a handle on this thing. I don't mind giving them away but paying the cost seem backwards some how Anyway, when I get done scaping I'm gonna see what I have left over and will probably put it up on the Sale or Trade board. Always see new plants I want and I should at least try to trade for them. BigStick120 and HouseofCards are great at that. I think I need to take a class...

A 180 is like gardening outside-lot's of room! It is amazing how quickly you run out tho! Mine has some little girls in it, but not the one you are talking about-I saw that thread too. Mine has a few discus in it; just posted a pic or two yesterday of it:

See all that empty gravel? Your trash could go there!

Kitfoxdrvr - I saw your tank this am. SO pretty!!! Your fish are striking! What a WONDERFUL woman you are married too!! (She should have enough points from that one to last til next Xmas!!!)

I don't see a lot of empty gravel.... Wait til your plants fill in in the front and you'll be doing a little trashing yourself! BTW what's the bright green plant in the middle foreground?

Yep, all points used up for the balance of the year; she's an accountant, so my situation is hopeless!

The foreground plant is wisteria (H. difformis). It works great as a temporary foreground plant; if any vertical growth is kept pruned it creeps along the surface. I am using it there to cover some space until the HC and Marsilea minuta decide whether they are going to grow or not!

You are so funny! Seems like she did pretty good there saving up to get those beauties! Course the other side of that coin is that it's hard to "slip new little purchases in"!

I thought that might be wysteria. Just couldn't see it clearly. That stuff grows fast. I bet you're pruning alot. Pretty tank.

Thanks, but it pales against yours. I could use my high temperature as an excuse, but it is laughable when I see your pics. I will be watching in the "For Sale" forum for your next pruning! Now, if the weather will just warm up!

Nice tank! Really like some of your larger plants, especially the madagascar. I do see your reasoning for re-doing the foreground. Something with some more "completness" and unity would do it good. What is the plant in the middle of the 3rd pic you posted?

If you're talking about my plant grow-out tank there are two plants in the middle Bacopa Myriophylliodes, and Myriophyllium Mattogrossense. The first px is also the Bacopa Myriophylliodes. It kinda reminds me of a pine tree. It's about as round as a kids crayola marker. The other plant is more the diameter of a cabomba. It is a wonderful plant. Since that px it has grown about 25%. It is branching out without being trimmed. While I can see maintenance issues it is so striking and beautiful that I think it's worth it. I think that will be one that I'll be sharing pretty fast!

Thanks for your compliment! BTW I agree with your completeness and unity comment.
