Default Backgrounds??

in many of the Amano style pics i see, the background is white or a very light blue, which is it?
its hard to tell because of the light bouncing off of it. it really gives a sense of depth, that i really like but...

im probably stuck with a black background, because of the built in overflows in my tank being black.
id think they would stick out like a sore thumb if any other color.

whats your favorite color background??

Chris

Mine fades from Dark blue to Light blue... but the other day I saw a Tank that had a mirror on the back of it... bet that would give it depth.

Thumbs up Re: Backgrounds??

Good thread as I've been trying to figure out which way to go as well. If people could post pics with different backgrounds on here that would be awesome.

I use the Oceanvisions Backgrounds seen on this page:

http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/cat/...0/category.web

They come in Crystal black, Deep blue, and "Mirror" colors. I little tricky to put on, but once dry these backgrounds seem to have come with the tank. They are very high quality IMO.

One more thing. I almost always use black. I think it gives a sense on depth and any other color other than black will show algae growth very vividly. Ugly IMO.

I installed my tank about three years ago, and decided a 'proper' background, and I agree Jlanders. I have a black background on my back and sides so the fish and plants draw your attention and the algae does not show as bad. Plus my tank is a separator for a room so the opaque material acts as a divider.

I have black on my 75g which is black sign vinyl applied directly to the tank. This has to be done before the tank is in place. My 45 has frosted glass on the back and the wall of the room is white. The frosted glass is a beautiful effect (imo) but it does require algae patrol because so much light bounces back off of the wall. On my vintage 10g I created a moss wall so I didn't need a background applied to the outside of the tank.

I know many people also paint the back of the aquarium rather than applying any sort of sheet material.

Bare back. Gives a really refreshing look . But in jungle type tanks black works well. Wax paper with a small light looks amazing also as it portrays sunsets. So it really depends on the mood or what the scaper is trying to convey.

I used Very dark window tint for the rear of my 72g tank. The light bounces very nicely off of it.
