Chunky....the two overflows that you can see in the photo are enough for your circulation with the sump. If you need some understanding of how a sump works take a look here....

http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-01/gt/index.php

The emphasis there is for a saltwater tank but the mechanics are the same as for freshwater.

And, if you do decide to apply pressurized CO2 on your new planted tank, I'd recommend using a reactor in the CO2 setup rather than a diffuser and hhave the water go from the reactor directly into th tank...not into the sump...to minimize CO2 depletion because of aeration.

Looking at this thread I realized that your 300 gallon tank weighs about as much as my car. Yikes!

Have fun, good luck!

I'd get in touch with Jeff and Mike of Aquarium Design Group and have a consultation with them. They're some of the best in the country at large planted tanks. They should be able to give you a lot of help, especially if Funkiitown, TX is close to Houston.

Something to take into consideration; how much does your water cost? Doing massive regular water changes on a tank that big is going to get expensive real fast.
