I bought a lighting kit from AHsupply for my 10g tank.. but i haven't put it together yet. I was wondering how i would cover the top of the tank without the hood that it came with. I went to petsmart and couldn't find just a piece of glass for the top of a 10g tank. Any suggestions?

You can go to Lowes or home dept and have them cut you glass any size you need. Thats what i did for the shelf of guppy breeder tanks i have. Its been awhile but i think it cost me under 30 bucks for 8 cut sheets 19.5"x7.5". They work very well for tank covers and a lot cheaper then the glass tops from the lfs. The only down side to them is no door to open so i feed fish from the back.

or get the glass top w/ a hinge

Many just run an open top tank with lights over it as the tops get dirty and reflect/hinder light
