Default Minnesota lake

Well I finally got a decent camera and this is my first attempt at posting a pic. If I get it right I will post more. This pic is of a plant that produces smallish white flowers usually in late July through August. I have managed to grow them in tubs at my house and have them in a small pond as well. I have kept them in the aquarium and about half will go dormant but half wont and just keep growing. they can grow submersed, emersed and I have found some growing entirely above water due to the drought here. If you can guess what they are, I will send you a bunch of the wild ones for the cost of shipping. Others in their family are quite popular and often expensive, require softer water and seem to have a small but devoted following particularly in asia. Hope the pic comes through.

Can anyone guess the flowering plant with white flowers. You guess it and I will send you some. I could use some help id'ing the pink flowering plant. Hope these are in the right order. This is the last of the pics.

I recently collected some of this plant near LiveAquaria HQ in rhinelander wisconsin. I collected them emersed but I am growing them both submerged and emersed. I am looking forward to seeing what this plant does/how it looks when it is grown submerged for a long time. I hope it is not too grassy.

I think the pink-flower plant is a Potamogeton, but not sure on the species....maybe illinoensis?

The white flower that goes with the plant by your toes is a Sagittaria sp. I think.

Great find on the first post! I found some (mysteryplant ) decangulare this weekend (I won't spoil the mystery in case other want a guess. ) If I have the Genus wrong please let me know.

The plant by my toes, the plants with white flowers and the distance shot with only flower spikes sticking up are all the same type of plant. There are only two types of plants shown, the ones with white flowers (mystery plant A) and the one with pink flowers (Mystery Plant B). The one near my toes has a markedly different leaf type because it was grown in less then an inch of water due to drought rather then being submersed.

-Dave monkey you are half right on the white flowering green leaf one (Plant A), I imagine the submersed shot gave it away. If you put this one in a warm tank with co2 it will get much larger leaves then it does in the short cold season it has here.

I will have to yank up one of the pink flower ones for pics the growth underwater is not much like a potamogeton, the stem is woody like a terrestrial shrub with virtually no leaves. I believe the stem survives dormancy intact and produces new leaves in the wild. I dont know the id for this one and have not tried it in a tank.

The other two potamogetons typically found in northern lakes ie gayii and the other one with the fat curlyish leaves do grow in the same lake as in the photos.

I don't mean to harsh on anyone's mellow, but the pink flowered plant is WATER SMARTWEED. I don't think it is able to survive for long without access to the surface.

It's scientific name is Polygonum amphibium
