Default New 5.5g with Rotala sp 'mini'

I started this nano tank about 2 months ago. Currently there are 3 species Rotala Indica, Hemianthus micranthemoides and rotala sp. "mini".

The hemianthus needs a trim, and I'm thinking of filling in the remainder of the right side. Any ideas about what to use?

I really like this rotala sp "mini," I feel like a very small nano tank could really take advantage of it, right now it's just sort of lost and hanging out in the corner of this 5.5g tank. The tallest stem in the picture is about 2 inches, it really is amazingly delicate and beautiful.

Any comments or suggestions on the tank would be greatly appreciated.

That is a beautiful tank!! If it were mine I wouldn't plant anything else on the right side. Watching the mini rotala grow would be interesting in itself.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm still trying to sort out the next step. That's a problem I guess--nothing is ever good enough to just leave alone. I already have 2 tanks and not enough room for a third, I may be in trouble.

I'm reposting the picture of the rotala mini here,

i have 3 nano tanks so if you interested in parting with some of the clipping off the rotela mini when it fills in i would be interested.

Great looking tank. Do you have purple gravel or is it just the light?

Rotala mini is a great looking plant, but it seems to grow very slowly, good for a nano (less trimming), but somewhat fustrating when other plants a growing quickly around it and choking it out.

The gravel is sorta dark grey not really purple-- it's the light in the picture.

The rotala 'mini' does grow slow, but only in proportion to it's size. I started with about 5 very scrubby crooked little stems about a month ago and I probably have about 10 times that now. It ramifies quit frequently, though you couldn't tell by looking at that picture. It gets fairly high light about 5wgp in the nano with co2. I haven't lost even smallest bit of it. I've taken a piece literally 3 mm long and stuck it in the gravel and it's grown just fine.

You're right about it getting choked out by other plants, that's why I put it in the corner. I'm not sure there's much 'aquascaping' you can do with it- I think it works best in isolation. Just have to admire the tiny jewel-like quality.
