Default How are you lighting your Nano?

Are you using clip on lights, manufactured fixtures, DIY setups, or something else?

I'm thinking of adding another nano to my collection and now looking for light examples/ideas (hint hint..photos).

Let see them!

No photo's of mine since I set it up because of on going issues I have had with plant growth, though Since my nano is the smallest tank I have been playing with RO water and have been seeing a bit of improvement.

It's a 1.5 gallon cube, started with a clip on light, 7watts. It was enough to keep the plants alive, but they didnt really grow that I could see within the few weeks I used it. From there i dug around for what i already had that would look nice over the tank. I found a 50 watt halogen desk lamp. Its plenty of light for hairgrass and Elatine triandra, however as you all know halogen lamps get hot. I havn't ever checked the temp of the water but from touch my guess would be its in the low to mid 80's after an 8 hour photo period.

All in all it has worked well, slight algae growth but nothing out of control or explosive. The algae may also have more to do with the very small plant mass in this tank. It has worked for me But I would rather use a CF fixture if I could find something small and sleek

I have a 2.5 AGA tank with a glass top. Lighting is an 18W Coralife Mini Aqualight that I'm just resting on the glass. Easy, and working well for me so far.

I have an AGA 2.5g with the mini aqualight 18w by coralife on rigged legs from some other light.I forget what it is but if you search mini aqualight there's an article somewhere.

My new nano is an ADA Mini-M(5g) using the ADA Mini-solar 27w

Will post some pictures later in the morning John.

Check the link on my 5g minibow - that's the Coralife growing Cabomba better than I can grow it in my 46g.

I have a 6gal shelf tank that came with a 15w florescent. I didn't like my spectrum options with that type bulb so I got a dual 13w retro fit kit from AH supply and swapped the internals. now were pushing 26 watts.

I light my 3g with a 27w desklamp (it has a 6500K bulb). It was about $15 at Home Depot.

There is a regular lamp on the table too...but the base of the desklamp is to the left so you can't see it in the pic.

I use two of these on my 5.5 gallon. No pics of my nano yet. It is almost ready for one though.

I've seen this fixture and those bulbs at HD before. Always thought it might do the trick. And obviously it does. Great idea!
