I like the new layout- it reminds me of a Highlands meadow; however, the rotalia seems somewhat awkwardly placed. Perhaps if you moved it farther back, it would fit better. Maybe you could consider a plant with finer leaves, like Mayaca fluviatillis or Rotalia nanjeshan. Anyway, great job.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I tried to make it a little different and create a different angle by having the rotala on the side more instead of just behind the tall rock. I'll probably play around with it many more times to see how it looks. Rotala R is alittle big leafed for this size tank, but I just used leftovers from my 72g.

Thanks for the comment. I really like the stuff. I find it very easy to scape with since you can simply move a rock here or there to change the look. I know some people complain about it getting all over the tank, but if you remove the entire rock to trim it you limit loose pieces. Any loose pieces around the tank I just suck out with tubing.

I love the way riccia looks in your tank! It looks like the shrimps have little beds to jump up and down on. So nice

Well decided to update again. Decided to add a beachfront for the summer. I think I like this version the best. Any comments are welcome.

zomg houseofcards. you ve outdone yourself. you are making me rethink HC and do riccia instead! only comment: you need something on the right to balance the tank. it seems like you dont have substrate there, i would opt for pelia or moss.

Great job. 5 stars.

Thanks for those really nice comments. Actually there is Eco under the rock and riccia in the back right. I was tempted to go rotala all the way around the back, but now that I look at it a background grassy plant might look even better. Also the tank does kinda sloped down from the light into the newly formed cove area, so that's why I kept it low over on the right. I guess that's what's fun about these little tanks, they are easy to experiment with.

That's superb. Great job. The Riccia looks amazing.

I thought Stepheus was dead wrong when I first read his post, but having looked and thought about it I think he's completely correct! Something in the far right corner may well improve it even more.
I think it would be best at about half the height of the Rotala and I think you're spot on about needing a vertical accent like a grass. I must admit my first thought was that a small Narrow Java fern would look great tied onto something small and tucked behind the rock.

I wish my nano looked half as good...
