Plant Points: 1850 | .68 gallon planted betta nano... am I crazy? Well I set up an old Red Sea candy combo I had sitting around. I got a nice little healthy Anubias nana and hopefully tomorrow I will be picking up a small amount of duckweed. The light is a 7 watt 7,100k PC lamp. The substrate is a small amount (about 1/2") of potting soil covered with about 1/2"-1" of small gravel. I set it up a few days back, monitoring the ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites, all was well, so I will be adding the betta shortly.
Is this crazy or should this work? Has anyone else had success with something this small?
Here are some pictures of the setup...
Let me know what you think.
Jesse

I think this would be perfect for a betta. I even wonder in a betta could tolerate some cherry shrimp.... |

Growth is slow, but not a problem. The only thing I do is add water everyonce in a while. Ferts once a month? (maybe) lol.
So you are not crazy. Infact I love your setup and you should not have much of a problem. I have 3 cherries in mine and would recommend the same. Just to keep things clean. I have a couple snails to for the same.
Good luck, I love the red sea nano!
Edit: I caution against a betta. Size aside, its how quickly the param's can get out of wack in these things. Keep the bio load low. I only feed my shrimp a SMALL piece of algae wafer once a week, if that. |

Any fish is worth as much space as you can get it, regardless of what it is capable of living in.
I think this little tank looks good, and I wouldn't say you were crazy, but I'd still advise against a Betta. Maybe Ghost Shrimp would work okay. |

Some betta will tolerate shrimps some don't, it depends on the fish temperament |
