Default 5 gallon AGA *PICS*

Today I decided to swap out my 5 gallon hex for a 5.5 gallon AGA. I'm using a base of mature eco-complete topped with inert fine gravel for substrate. I'm using a 27W full-spectrum desk lamp, dosing EI, CO2, and daily excel (small doses of course ) I'm still not positive what direction I'm going with this, but I'm leaning towards a dwarf puffer. I've already got about 100 snails left over from the hex, so he'll have plenty to eat. I'm not positive about the DP though. Can anyone recommend any "nano fish" from their own experiences? Input, suggestions and comments are MUCH appreciated. Thanks for looking!

-Mike

Get a Dwarf Puffer, or a Betta, or a small colony of shrimp (although they'll probably out grow the tank eventually).

I would not put any tetras in a tank that small.

Thanks for the replies. I've considered some of the "nanofish" ie phoenix rasboras, chili rasboras, etc. I don't want a betta, and I'm trying to get a piece of glass cut to cover the top so I can add a few RCS, but I'd really like to get a few nanofish. I'm just not sure which ones, and none of them are cheap(+ $35 s+h!!!) so I wanted some experiences before I order.

Are you sure that's a 5g? It might just be the picture, but that looks a lot like my 2.5g. Are the dimensions about 12"X6"X8"? Either way, your tank looks great.

you don't really need to cover the top to have shrimp. it's rare for them to jump out unless the tank is filthy.

check out frank's aquarium for nano ideas, they have a good run down of tiny fish.

I was wondering the same thing when i saw the picture. Also the tank on the right is not placed on a leveled surface? Anyways, nice nano that you got there.

Yeah its a 5.5 actually. 16"x8"x9" I believe.

What? Not sure what you mean. The tank on the right is a 29 gallon on its own stand. The stands aren't the same size if thats what you're referring to, but the 29 is definitely level.

I'm definitely considering the dwarf puffers, but I'd like to keep a shrimp or two in there also and I don't see that working out with the puffer. What about some of the killis? Anyone have experience with them?
