1.5 gal cube and 1.5 gal long - Nano Aquariums

1.5 gallon 7" cube glass
Plants: Riccia, Java Moss, duckweed, Val or Sags (i don't really know).
Substrate: play sand
Rock: black lava rock, sand stone (I don't like mixing, but that's all I had)
Livings: Red Cherry Shrimps, some snails.

1.5 gallon long 12"x4"x10" arcylic
Plants: Riccia, Java Moss, duckweed, Val or Sags (i don't know).
Substrate: saltwater live crush coral
Rock: white stone
Living: Red Cherry Shrimp. ( I wish they are more red but being such a bright tank, they probably won't be).

I really like these little tanks, now if only they could make small scale canister filters with unobtrusive intakes and returns. I don't know why, but for some reason when I moved my shrimp from my grow out tank to my mini garden which is just HC/Glosso/Dwarf hairgrass with an eco-complete substrate their colors brightened substantially.

I am in total agreement with you. I'd love a small filter that would not take up half the space and look unsightly. There probably is a huge market for micro things like that. Well, lets kepe wishing.

So you're saying if I have a filter in there, my RCS will be much more red?
Maybe that's why they're so red in my 5 gallon.

I am using a 15 watts fluorescent desk lamp, long tube, not CFL. They are also right next to a window so they get 2-3 hours of direct/indirect sunlight.

I am not using any kind of filtration. I just top it off after evaporation and change a certain percentage of water every so often. Any kind of filter is just too unsightly in such a small tank. If there was some tall background plants covering it, that would be fine but not in an iwagumi style aquarium.
