Default 2.5 gallon.

Hey everyone. I am just going to post a new thread with all the photos of my 2.5 gallon rimless aquarium throughout the past 11 months until just last night. I hope you enjoy the transformations.

At this stage I just brought it home from pets mart and took the rim off. also the eventual fixture for my light sitting on top.

The piece of metal used for the light.

the light I made from steel and rusted it then sprayed a clear coat on it for a nice shine. (not shown here)

Day 1 initial setup December 08, 2008

second layout, 36 days old. January 12, 09.

update #3. it is 50 days old at January 26, 09. New Substrate!!! My first time using ADA Aquasoil! I was very happy.

fourth update slight plant changes 81 days old at February 19, 09.

A lot more growth. 100 days at march 10, 09.

March 30, 2009 day 120.

July 30, 2009 150 days old. catastrophic problems after a month vacation. my dad didn't do any maintenance like I asked and let the moss over take the aquarium and kill everything else. I'm just glad I didn't have any fish or shrimp in the aquarium at the time.

and after much painstaking nursing of the plants, and buying a filter, and upgrading to pressurized CO2 this is what it looks like today.

day 136

I think that this is the first aquarium I have ever owned that actually has high light, CO2, and fertilizers all at the same time. I'm excited after 8 years of being in this hobby I have never taken the last step. I hope everything turns out Well!

Let me know what you think about the process and the bad layouts and one or two good ones.

I REALLY like the March 30 layout. I also like the light fixture you made with the rusted metal .

Thanks Dave, I actually put the march 30 layout in a contest but the voters didn't like it as much as we do apparently, it came in second to last out of 10 entries. (for a contest of AAPE members)

I thought I would update with some specs of the aquarium and it's equipment.

2.5 gallon 12" long x 6" deep x 8" high
ADA aquasoil
NPK fertilization with Pferts root tabs
16 watts T5
15 hour light period
Fluval 105 (boy does it get the water moving!)

No livestock yet, but I want to add cherry shrimp, and maybe a few male endlers.
