Default Heater questions for a 3 gal.

Here's my 3 gal. - http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...c-iwagumi.html

My question is do I need a heater?

I live in a centrally heated house but the aquarium is in the kitchen where it can get down to 16C at night in the winter. Ambient temp. is normally around 20-21C during the day.

Plants will be HC and Eleocharis acicularis. Tropica say HC is ok down to 18C and hairgrass to 15C. (I'm not stocking animals for the time being.)

Does this mean the plants simply tolerate the lower temps or do they still grow well, assuming sufficient light, CO2 etc?

If I do need a heater then this seems the best option, with a stat preset to 26C. It should slot nicely into my HOB filter.
NeWattino Heater/Stat

What do you think?

George Farmer, your tanks and Nanos are incredible!
Just amazingly beautiful and your photographs are classics!

In the wintertime, does this tank have to be in the kitchen?

Or is there an option for another room where the temperature is more stable?

Wow, thanks for the kind feedback. I didn't expect that.

I can move the tank but I've answered my own question now. The tank stays stable at 22-24C with no heating, even when it's -5C outside.

Thanks again.

What would that be in Farenheit? 78 degrees?
