I think there has to be some way to get it working.....The though has ran through my mind and seeing how the Solar arms are positioned at ADG there has to be some way.

possibly a wire frame to hold the light and then hanging wire to hold that above the tank.

Would have to see it in person though.

Hope this will work.....

Tank covered on purpose since it will be entered for the contest

Basically, the Viper hangs nicely on the back glass, and the distance bet light and water surface is approx. 30cm(~12 inches)...just like the ADA Solar I distance to 60-P water surface.

I wish I could find pictures of the Tek light hanging on the arm, but suffice it to say, it is much heavier than Solar I. Luis and I had a great difficulty in keeping it balanced on the arm. It is not impossible, though. I think we did hang it for a while, using metal clasp to secure the steel wires. But I just didn't like the results for too long.

Thanks for the pics Paul! I ended up getting the Aquamedic 150 MH and a 6700K bulb. Both were on sale at the time at Dr FS. I bit the bullet and ordered the Solar I arm also as I did not want to clamp something to the 60P.

Good luck on the contest!

Hey ya'll:
I finally got to set up the Aquamedic Oceanlight and it works great with the Solar I arm! (Thanks for the suggestion Paul!) I have it ~10" above the water surface. Even though its rated for 15 watts more than my Aqualights, it's so bright I think I need cut down the photoperiod from 8 to 6 hrs.

Once I figure out a fixture to water surface distance, I will trim back the extra aircraft wire.

That is one sweet set up and got me itching to get another light! Let me know how it grows plants for ya, B Solar I, while nice, still costs too much. And if I am not mistaken, TONS of things have been inflated in terms of cost.

Hard to do business these days, man..........maybe should start selling shrimp

Nice setup! I've been itching for a long time now to set up. Been too long! I didn't realize the price on the solar I jumped so high. Ouch!

Yeah, all the ADA stuff went up by a lot! I was already a little annoyed when the Solar I arm jumped for $180 to $235. In my own mind I just could not justify that much for a light fixture for a tank my size. I was already a little annoyed when the Solar I arm jumped for $185 to $235. You should see how much their tanks went up by!
