Default Solar I arm questions

Does anybody know if the Solar I arm can be used to hang fixtures other than ADA'sSpecifically, I had the 24" 4x24 watt Tek 5's in mind.

I cant answer this one, but you could easily make one out of electrical conduit.

The thought did cross my mind as its certainly cheaper! http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...711&lpage=none

However, I am not confident of my DIY skills that it will look "polished" enough to be in the living room even if I paint it.

Sorry to give you bad news but me and Luis did try to no avail to hang my 24" Tek on the Arm and it was simply too big and too wide to hang properly.

So what did you do? Break down and get the Solar I or used the ceiling mount?
Solar I light looks nice, but ADG never seems to have it in stock for too long, plus I have concerns about its energy efficiency (with global warming, high energy costs and all).

Heh, if I take that logic I should give up using CO2 also!

B, read my PM.

But in ref to what we did, well, I already have Solar II so that was no problem. I ended up using the Tek on my 2nd 60-P, via its legs. I have recently switched to Viper 150MH and it looks awesome! You simply set it on the back of the tank and it will arch over the tank. You can do trimming and water maintenance with more freedom this way. This was my best solution next to using the ADA arm. Like I said, I guess ADA Arm is only good for Solar I OR a small Geisellman fixture they have in Europe. But that costs even more than Solar I. All in all, I am happy with the Viper

Hey Paul:
Thanks for the suggestions! How do did you manage the Tek light feet and the lily pipe placement in the 60P?

I found the Viper at Dr FS. They also sell the Aqualight MH too. Did you change out the stock reefer bulbs to freshwater plant friendly ones? I have seen the latter at FG plant section but their unfortunately the plants don't seem to like it or maybe its an issue other than the light.

Yeah, with the Tek light's legs in the way, the available space to put lily pipes is somewhat confined but not too bad. As for the bulb of Viper, yes, I simply got a Coralife 6500K from ebay for about $40. I will post the picture of the set up soon to show you what it looks like now

Thanks man! If you have a picture of you old TEK light setup with the pipes, I'd like to see that too so I can get an idea of how much space there is for the lily pipes

I will try to dig out some pix of the Tek light on top of the tank, but I remember well that, I had about 2.5-3 inches of space left to place the lily pipes. I took pix of the Viper and will post it today, once I leave work.
