Default Rec on HC trimming

Hey all:

The HC in my 60P is getting thick in some parts. Its 1.5" tall in some areas, but about 1/2 to 3/4" in other parts. I'd like to achieve a more even look. Do I simply just "mow" it down to the right height? Any precautions?

Secondly, in the June meeting, Luis (great talk BTW - I should have asked him about Excel but forgot) mentioned a short grassy foreground plant. I don't think it was E. parvula, but some Marsilea sp. Anyone remember what it was? I want to know what it is for future reference, whenever the time comes for a rescape.

There seams to be a few opinions about trimming HC. My approach is just like you described, mow it down and let it grow back.

Either mow it down or replant the areas that are too thick.

As for the plant I think it was M.Minuta.
