iTrader Positive Rating: 100% Plant Points: 147000 | Great place to Ditch-Dive Our Church had a picnic today at Alexander Duessen Park in NorthEast Houston (North of Beltway 8 and C.E. King) . I took my 4-yr-old for a walk there and found a couple drain-channels/ditches running throughout and we picked TONS of plants (Hydrocotyl sp. , Ludwigia palustris?, Bacopa monnieri, Polygonum hydropiperoides, and a couple I was unsure of.
At the entrance of the park there is a very long and wide channel full of Lotus (in bloom right now) and other plants, but I did not get a chance to get out and look closely there.
Anyway, if anyone has a hankering to go ditch diving, I highly recommend this park area.

I didn't even bring a camera because I had no idea I'd see anything cool there. My original plan was to stuff my face and then take a nap. Now I know to bring a camera WHEREVER I go!
Hooha, my wife was slighyly upset about me using my daughter as a "Special Plant Collector" since she fell in the water a couple times. But when she saw how much fun the two of us had she just rolled her eyes and laughed.
Kevin, yep! That's the place with the buffalo. My calendar is fairly booked up, but I REALLY want to make time to go back out and try to snag some little fish or cray's. I also want to see more of the area. I have a hunch that I only saw the tip of the iceburg while I was there. |

When you give her away at the wedding altar, you will remember moments like these and look forward to doing them again with your future grandchildren Speaking of collecting, I am so glad my girl didn't really care when I was visiting her in Europe. As I bent over and look under old bridges by the local lake, she just chilled with me and helped me locate some plants:P Nothing like finding a partner who shares the same hobby |

Just FYI, I'll be at the USDA Plant Materials Center in Nacogdoches tomorrow and will spend some time hunting for Juncus repens and other plants. I'm gonna bring home what I can carry, but no guarantees on bugs or algae.
