I think I got enough shrimp to keep them satisfied for awhile anyhow. I'll move some of the shrimp to other tanks as they are surely easier to catch than these devils. They really know how to hide as I'm not sure I still got three. Only see as many as two at a time. Gives me something to watch for during my morning retirement hours. Hey, Luis did you get my pm about the dosing of the phosphate?

Yeah, I was always leary about these. When you watch these the mouth opens differantly then the "red neon" more forward like a preditor as oppose to the downward feeding habit of the red neon.

I had a few different types at the time....hair algae, staghorn, greenspot, BBA & some of that brown soft stuff that forms on driftwood when you first start a tank. It got to be a real mess in just 2 weeks. The mollys took care of all but the green spot. I'm not sure if the other mollys would work or not. I haven't ever really tried any others because I've had such good luck with the black ones.

I had the same experience with Black Mollies. Very good cleaners, never tried other mollies.

I knew it, remember us sitting watching these little guys at HAW? Glad I pegged it right, was dying to bring some home until I saw one open its mouth. So cool, but most gobies are predators - you have to wait and watch them open their mouths to be sure.

Predator gobies have forward facing mouths that open wide, surprisingly wide, almost like a killie's mouth.

Algae eaters have a mouth like an Oto, downward facing round shaped mouth.

Ingg, Should have listened to you. The ones we saw eat one was a bit more orange at the time and these were supposed to be red. But, alas they never colored up much, but live and learn I guess. How did the ones other out of town members got from Niko work out? Will be ordering some from him when the weather cools down a bit if they are ok.

Stiphodon's aren't brilliantly colored bodies, but males to get some incredible dragon wing red looking dorsal fins.
