Default Help for a newbie

Ok, i admit i'm not totally new to plants... but the amount of times i've tried and failed i'm going to start "fresh and new" =D

Today i bought some lights impulsively to setup a 2ft tank.

The light is a 2ft twin setup (2 x 20watts)

I'm uncertain what tank i want to set it up on, either my 2x18x18 or 2x12x12.

Obviously, on the 2x12x12 the light will be a lot stronger due to depth of the tank. But then issues of water evaporation come into effect from the high levels of heat created by the light.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I plan on keeping the tank well planted, no maintaince.
With simple co-2 setup (sera/nurafin co2 out of the box cheap stuff!!)

Any ideas, opinions on tank setup.

ps. is it crucial to get laterite for my 2 ft tank with the current level of lights (medium???)

David

Hey taebelZ,

What is the volume of your tank going to be? ( I know there's a way to calculate it from the dimension given, but don't remember what that is. ) That will go a long ways towards answering a lot of your questions.

Here's some references to help you along:

BTW, laterite is not a necessity for any amount of lighting.

All-Glass 15g is 24in x 12in x 12in. Don't see a 24x18x18 in on their site, but assuming inches that would be... Cool Google trick:

Google "search" query: convert ( 24 * 18 * 18 ) cu in to gal

It shows 33.6... gallons
