Coli, who said they were using plastic water bottles, and for what? I agree that the bottled water fad is a bad thing, not only because it uses petroleum to make the bottles, and leaves tons of very slowly degradable plastic in the environment, but because the water in the bottles is no better than most tap water, except that it can contain leached chemicals from the plastic. But, the comment appears to be aimed at no one.

When I had my 46 gallon planted tank, I decided to change the substrate, needless to say I had green water shortly after. I am talking pea soup in under 10 days.

Black out didn't work and I didnt want to drop $100 on a UV sterilizer so I hooked up a buddies Vortex Diatom filter charged with DE. Cleared it up in under 24hrs and it never returned.
