Default Nymphaea sp Santarem

Hi All,

This species was introduced to GSAS a few months ago by Erik Olson (AGA / thekrib.com). I find very little information about the species on the web (especially in English). It seems to be a new dwarf lily species from South America. Can anyone provide additional insight or links regarding the species?

GREAT plant. Stays about 3-4 inches tall at most. Grew one leaf that was taller but I clipped that off. It has spread around quite a bit too. Not slow growing, not a weed. To me it's an ideal for-mid ground plant.

I'll try to get a decent pic of mine.

Hi Cavan,

Thank you for your input, it seems to do OK in med/low light and no CO2....adds about 2 leaves a week.

Thanks for sharing, Roy. Looks like a cool little plant I need to get my hands on

How does this Nymphaea propagate?

It spreads by runners. Most plants pop up pretty close to the older ones.

For size reference, that's true Sagittaria subulata in front of it.

Hi Cavan,

It sounds from your posts that you may be including pictures but I am not seeing them.
