Default Echinodorus "White Flame"???

I'm not sure about its name. It was said that the plant comes from Netherland. Can anyone help me to identify this Echinodorus sp. or have ever heard about it? The new leaves are always bright white in colour. Thanks.

Jeff

Hi.
The Echinodorus in the pictures seems to be one Echinodorus bright flame.
Its one hybrid cultivated at Stoffels B.V.
I have this plant too.
However i think is bether if you post some pics when the plant give some flowers for one correct identification.

Hi, Vitorhugo..

Thanks a lot. I remember the name now. I got this plant from my friend and forget about the real name. (white flame or bright flame), but you helped me there to make it clearer. Thanks..

It appears to be a new mutant that does not produce the red pigment of the red flame variety but still delays the production of chlorophyll in the new leaves. I like the red flame variety better.

This is a somatic mutation, another color form of variegation in plants. This variegated color pattern is called a "ghost"; where the new leaves are produced all white which eventually fade from lighter shades of green to darker more normal coloration. There is an anubias with same type of variegation (all white leaf) erroneously sold as "Marbled". If you actually look at the leaf with a lens you will see very tiny green speckles-these take over the white portions as they age which produces the color change as the leaves age. To correctly ID the plant, I would try to find out the Non-variegated counterpart to which this is a mutation of. Example; Echinodorus Amazonica cv. "White Flame"
