I received my plant from the individual who popularized E. amanoanum and my plant looks very different from the Erio sp. Japan
If you say so I believe you.

Erio. Amanoanum is very rare and a protected species in Japan and unless your plant came from Honk Kong, it is highly unlikely that you received E. amanoanum as this species is readily confused with Erio "Japan". You were probably sent a large Erio "Japan" which is why you think that my Amanoanum looks like it. If you had a the true Amanoanum there is no way you would confuse the two.
hahaha! You forget who you are talking to, don't forget I can school you in this area my friend.

You don't need to know where and how I came to own this sp, lets just leave it at that. Just know that I've added this to my collection long before you 'discovered' it

Hi Coralite

Beautiful Eriocaulon you have there, really.

Do you know how to propogate these yet? Does the plant divide at the base or do you need to obtain seed?

We have many Native to Australia, some i have had alot of luck and some not so much. If i'm quick, i can usually stop the flowering underwater to keep them alive. I have obtained seed from a few, some grow and some don't.

I'd also advise not rushing into adopting names for these plant's, a botanist or expert in this area is your best bet. Imagine E sp amano, lol, i hope that does not stick.

Best of luck with it, an amazing plant.

Brad

Amanoanums.

Keep in mind the upwardness of the leaves is due to light intensity NOT sp. var. If I up the lighting or duration it WILL readily curl over as you see in most/some pictures online, this probably what you are seeing that gives you the impression . Japan sp do not grow leaves as (biggest difference looking at pics) densely, their leaves are broader and will not get as tall as an Amanoanum.
