Default Ludwigia inclinata sp. "curly/tornado"

Here are some photos of a fairly new plant that was grown and introduced out of asia. What is known is that it is a mutation of Ludwigia inclinata sp "cuba". Its difficulty of growth is some where between L. sp. "Cuba" and L. sp. "Pantanal".Fairly a little more difficult than L. sp. "Cuba" but not as hard as L. sp "Pantanal". Friends from Germany are having some issues with leaves loosing its curls. Luckily for me, the plant is keeping its curly leaf form. Hope you enjoy these photos.

As you can see, it is a very interesting plant. These photos are plants that has not yet reach the top of the tank. As it moves closer to the light, their crowns begin to turn redish just like L. inclinata "cuba".

Here are some photos of the crown about 2 inches from the top.

Hi manini and Anja,

Is this a plant that has recently come on the scene? Is it in Europe only or manini are you in the U.S.A.?

It is a good looking plant, what H2O conditions, CO2, and ferts are you using?

Am I the only one who doesn't really like it? The regular kind is one of the most beautiful aquarium plants, but this?

I agree with Cavan.

I, too, like the wild-type much better. This form looks distorted. I also never liked the Tropica cultivar of Echinodorus parviflorus or Echinodorus vesuvius, both of which which look diseased to me. I wish somebody sold the wild-type varieties.

No Cavan, you are not the only one
I don't like it either.
I saw lots of pics and was wondering 'bout the weird appearance.
Just got 2 stems to look at them in reality.
I frequently get plants which come on the scene to see what requirements they've got.
I planted them next to Rotala mexicana 'Araguaia'.
That's ok 'cause the Rotala hides the 'curly' great

My tank has following conditions:
~3,2 gal
11W Arc Pod light
soft water
aqua soil
without co2
only use some iron (micronutrients) fertilizer

From my understanding, a fairly recent plant addition. I know at least 8 months or more in europe. Yes I am in the US.

As for how it looks? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thinks it is a very interesting plant. I currently have enough to do a scape with and will see how the contrast of the plant will look like with other plants. My water conditions is soft with high light, CO2 and I dose with pferts daily (N,P,K,Micros).
