Default Riparium or paludarium or .... ?

Not sure how one would classify this tank ... It is a 4ft open - with a shelf at the back. I used the shelf to plant typical plants that SA LFS sell as true "aquatic". Water is provided via cascade 600 sponge and powerhead combo filter/pump. The shelf has hydroton and nursery moss as the growing substrate. These pics show the initial planting (full tank shot) and then a subsequent planting +-3 weeks later.

The tank has been named Lucky 13 - in the hope that it will reduce my cravings that I experience due to acute MTS

That's cool. I would say that that setup looks something like a paludarium + riparium hybrid. You have an intersting plant selection in there. It would be great to get plants growing up tall so they can fill more of the above water area.

Thanks hydrophyte ....

Still working on adding more plants and hight in the confined space. My biggest concern is root mass pushing the lot of the shelf. I might need to add some bracing or tie-back. It has only been a week and the pant growth has been good. Best of all, the water quality is excellent.

I like the shape of the tank. Is it a home made design?
