Default Need advice for 185US Gallon Tank

Hi,

This is my first post here at APC. Have been using EI for the past few months for my 5.5ft tank. Due to the tedious water change needed, I've decide to try out the PPS method hoping to reduce water change to once a month eventually.

Pls pardon me if this has been raised before. What is the dosage for the various solution for such a tank of my size? According to FAQ, a 100gallon will need;

SS - 19ml
PF - 45ml
Mg - 5ml
TE - 5ml

Should I use this dosage or any recommendations?

Thanks in advance
JC

Welcome to APC,

This is how we start:
What is your tap NO3, PO4, KH, Mg and Ca?
Is your substrate changing water parameters?
What is your lighting in Wpg?

Hi Edward,

Thanks for your reply. To be honest, I've yet to personally measure my tap water. However, based on the information I gather the parameters are as below (which should not vary much).
http://www.pub.gov.sg/our_services/W...owBrought.aspx

NO3: 05-15mg/l
TDS: 60-250
PO4: <0.10
KH: ~4-5 (based on my own measurement)
Mg: Unknown
Ca: unknown

My substate is Onyx sand and I dun think it will change the water parameter. As for my lightings, it is 1.65gpw using T5 high output.

Thanks
JC

Hi
Because of your aquarium size testing will be easier then water changes. You will need NO3, PO4, GH and Ca test kits. I recommend Hagen Nutrafin for the Ca. Download the PPS Excel file for keeping your test results. The GH and Ca tests are important to have because the Excel calculates Mg levels automatically for you. This will be important due to the Onyx substrate dissolving both, Ca and Mg. Let’s start with the following.

Tap:
NO3 5 – 15 ppm
PO4 <0.1 ppm
KH 4.5
Mg ?
Ca ?

Aquarium:
NO3 ?
PO4 ?
KH ?
Mg ?
Ca ?
