Default PPS Analysis Form for G. Werner

When did you begin using PPS? Haven't yet, need help. Currently Kent Freshwater Plant, but not seeing results.

Do you find the PPS system easy to use? Dunno, haven't started yet.

How often do you do a water change? Little as possible, using RO w/Kent RO right and add approximately 10 gallons a week for evaporation.

Do you use CO2? Yes pressurized bottle with controller 3-4 bubbles per sec 6.8PH

What is your aquarium's water volume? 350 gallons (depends on plant growth)

What type of lighting do you use? AH Compact Flourescent

How many watts of lighting do you have? 8 - 96 watt = 768 watts (2.2 WPG)

Please describe the condition of your plants. Stunted growth, loosing large swords, they are regrowing with curled leaves, crypt leaves are dark red and used to be green. Please see my old posts on the tank. Got too busy working and have neglected it, periodic dosing, haven't seen good results.
Need a good routine, I have a Lamotte aquaculture kit, to test water

Please attach the PPS Excel Spreadsheet. Don't have this yet.

Hi
Your aquarium is 350 gallon? That’s worth testing. You know large aquariums are more difficult then small ones. We don’t know why yet but it seems to be that way.

The necessary ingredients are K2SO4, KNO3, KH2PO4, MgSO4, CaSO4, CaCl2, baking soda and Trace Elements. Test kits are NO3, PO4, Ca and GH.

Thank you
Edward

Default Fert Supplies

I'm sure this would be an easy search.

But what do you recommend for measuring this volume of material and how much is a good amount to start with for this tank.

Who are some suppliers that are reliable?

Thanks for your help.

Here you can get supplies, also in local hydroponics stores and chemical supplies stores.

Default Source material

Thank you guys for the advice. Spoke with Greg yesterday. Nice guy, very helpful. I'm going to finish my Kent and Seachem ferts. Then I would like to switch. I got a phosphate test kit yesterday and it is really close to zero. I have been starving the tank I think. Need to up the doses.

Default No water changes / evaportation only method

I have read the pps excel chart for no water changes and wonder if the calculations can just be tripled for (100 gallons X 3.5) or how would you recommend starting the doses?

Any suggestions will be considered. I hope eventually to be able to dose as needed, what is needed.

Also, do you have suggestions for what to mix and keep the solutions in for daily usage?

I can get syringes all day long, in various sizes.

Thanks again for your help.

Default SS plus others?

There is no such thing as a stupid question, so here goes...

On the table Edward, you have the recommended daily dosages.

The SS contains the same ingredients as the PF.

I'm assuming you use the SS until a change is necessary when a level goes out of range, then use the PF or whatever if needed, is that correct, or am I missing something?

Thanks

GW

I bet it is something to do with osmotic pressure.
