I can;t find instructions for that unit online, so I am not sure. But if you tested two diferent ways and came up with two much CO2, then yes I would back down until you are sure.

What size tank?

Make sure you have some water surface movement or little aeration. Then you can always measure your aquarium dKH and pH and look at the CO2 table to determine your CO2 concentration. The table is at APC FAQ.

Billionzz posted the instructions on how to make 4 and 5 dHK solutions. He also sells them as well. I made a 4.5 dKH solution to use in my drop checkers. I really like "Hoppy's" idea about this CO2 indication technique!

It can be on newly setup aquariums or after environmental changes. Such aquarium needs more time to break in.

Make sure your photoperiod is right and test your NO3. Plants sometimes react to changes by releasing N triggering this algae. If you find excessive NO3 change water but remember older water works against algae too.

This algae does not damage plants and will eventually go away.

Thanks Edward!

This high light, pressurized CO2 10g tank has been running for over two years. It's my "test drive" tank. The first year was with Seachem's ferts following their schedule. It did well. Then I tried EI and it worked OK, but I had to modify it some. I had to only dose 4X per week. Since I went to PPS-PRO, I've had great growth but with GDA. I'll do a big water change and test the KNO3 and PO4 using Seachem's test kits before and after the water change and I'll post the results.

I didn't test my water like I promised. Anyway, the GDA went away and everything is fine in this tank. The plants are doing well. Both of the females in my threesome of Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi had babies. So...things must be going right in this tank.

to PPS-Pro!
